Know What to Expect From Your Remodeling Project
A successful project starts with a clear process. Here's how we move from your first inquiry to a finished result you can review together with us.
Six steps from first conversation to finished result
Share Your Project
Tell us about the space you want to improve, your goals, and what's prompting the change.
Review the Space
We look at the existing conditions, layout, and access so the plan fits your home as it is.
Confirm the Scope
We define what's included, what's excluded, and the work required before anything starts.
Plan Materials and Scheduling
We talk through selections, availability, lead times, and how the work fits your schedule.
Complete the Agreed Work
We carry out the planned construction or remodeling work with attention to detail.
Review the Finished Result
We walk through the completed work together so you can see the result and ask questions.
What happens at each stage
We don't promise a fixed schedule before assessment. Project duration is different from lead time and material delivery — we discuss all three with you.
01 · Initial Project Inquiry
It starts with a conversation. Tell us about the space you want to improve, your goals, and what's prompting the change. The more we understand up front, the better we can help.
02 · Site Assessment Where Appropriate
For many projects, we review the space in person to understand existing conditions, layout, and access. What we see on site shapes what's practical.
03 · Written Scope and Exclusions
We define what's included and what's excluded in writing so there are no surprises after work begins. A clear scope protects everyone.
04 · Material Selection and Availability
We talk through material and finish selections, lead times, and availability so you know what to expect and when.
05 · Scheduling and Access
We discuss how the work fits your schedule, what access we'll need, and how to keep the rest of your home livable during the project.
06 · Protection of Surrounding Spaces
Where appropriate, we discuss protecting the areas around the work — belongings, floors, and adjoining rooms.
07 · Construction or Installation Sequence
We carry out the agreed work in a logical sequence, with attention to detail at each stage.
08 · Communication About Unforeseen Conditions
If we discover something unexpected behind a wall or under a floor, we talk about it with you before proceeding.
09 · Approval of Scope Changes
Any change to the agreed scope is discussed and authorized before the additional work is done. We don't expand the project without your go-ahead.
10 · Cleanup and Final Review
We wrap up with cleanup and a final walk-through so you can see the finished result and ask any questions.
Duration vs. lead time
How long the work takes once it starts is different from how long it takes to get started — material lead times, scheduling, and any approvals all factor in. We talk through all of it after we understand your project.
Everything you need to know before starting
Everything you need to know before starting your remodeling or construction project with Matti Construction.
How does the estimate process work?+
We start by learning about your project, goals, preferred style, and scope of work. From there, our team can evaluate the project and provide a detailed estimate so you understand what is involved before work begins.
How long will my remodeling project take?+
Project timelines depend on the size and complexity of the work. Before construction begins, we will discuss the anticipated schedule and major project stages so you know what to expect throughout the process.
Will I know what is happening during the project?+
Yes. Clear communication is an important part of our process. We keep homeowners informed as the project progresses and communicate about scheduling, project milestones, and important decisions along the way.
Can you help with material and design selections?+
Yes. We can help guide you through selections that fit the project, your home's style, and your overall vision while keeping practical considerations such as durability and functionality in mind.
Do I need to move out during my remodel?+
That depends on the scope of the project. Many smaller remodeling projects can be completed while the homeowner remains in the property. Larger renovations may require additional planning. We will discuss this with you before construction begins.
What happens if something unexpected is discovered during construction?+
If an unforeseen condition is discovered, we will communicate what was found, explain the available options, and discuss any changes to the scope, schedule, or cost before proceeding with additional work.
